Daily Light – Nov 6, 2017

Your daily goal:
Philippians 3:14  “press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
(Monday-Friday, from my morning quiet time, I will write a short thought for that day which I pray God will use to motivate you to ‘GO’ for that day.  Your objective is simple…to GO…to GO OUT and share the love of Christ with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)

Today’s Daily Light

The Reign of the King (Con’t)

The Treasure…The Pearl
(I am using some material from T4T –  A Discipleship Revolution, Smith-Kai, to help in presenting this series)
Matthew 13:44-46  Jesus said “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.  Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking  fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.”
If we help non-believers discover the value of the King, not simply try to get them to make a decision, we will help them become fervent followers of Jesus.  People often will joyfully give up all if we hold up the King appropriately.  Kingdom growth is built on the shoulders of men and women who radically turn from their old ways and fervently follow Jesus because of their vision of Who He is.
We must present the true value of the King and His claims and then call people to total commitment to Him and His Kingdom.  Accurately sharing the gospel is to elevate Jesus as King.
Christianity, in my opinion, in America, has become too ‘me’, or, ‘self’ focused.  Jesus did not die on the cross ‘just’ to give us the free gift of eternal life.   The work of the cross was to ‘reconcile’ us to God ‘so that’ Jesus could come to live inside us and rebuild us into ‘His’ image…it is the work of the Spirit inside us, that occurs after our conversion experience, to mold us into the image of Christ ‘so that’ we can ‘go out’ into the world and ‘be fishers of men’…and to train and disciple new converts toward/to Kingdom work.  The ‘cross’ is to bring us out of the ‘old’ and place us into the ‘new’.   The cross is about radical transformation of our lives.   The cross is not something to simply wear around our necks or put on a bookcase.   It is the place where we die to the old life and dominion of the flesh and self and become born into a new kingdom with a new King.  Christianity was not, is never, about me, ‘just’ something for me.   It is about us becoming ambassadors of the King.   Such is the correct view we must have in order to become effective in joining the King in the growth of His kingdom.
Father…again…I confess that no one needs to hear this message more than me.  I pray that your Spirit will give me/us strength this week to share the good news about our wonderful Savior and King with others.   Help us to find the ‘joy’ in our value of Jesus as treasure and pearl.   Help us to begin to feel the responsibility to be seed-sowers.  I pray for all of us that we will sow seed this week ‘knowing’ that it is Your work to prepare the soil.   Help us to see and love you as ‘that’ treasure and pearl of our life.   Amen
