Jesus and Santa Claus

Since all of us big kids know that there really is no Santa Claus, then you won’t think me harsh or cruel to reference him today in my writing.

I meet a lot of professing Christians, or ‘believers’, who have this idea that Jesus is more like a Santa Claus than He is who He is.  Their reason for believing in Him has more to do with what He can give than for who He is

God the Father and Jesus both want us to love Jesus because He deserves and warrants our deepest level of love and devotion ‘more’ than any other person or combined group of people that we will ever love.

Jesus, God the Son, is Creator and Lord of the entire universe.  Lord of all …say that again..Lord of ‘all’ creation.  There is no one or nothing that even remotely/faintly compares to his power, majesty, and splendor in the totality of who He is.  He is ‘beyond’ and over the top of what we can even imagine or understand as to His position as Lord and God over all of Creation.  Wow.

Jesus wants us to love Him because He demands and deserves our love.  He didn’t want this desire for us to love Him to come across to us as a dictatorial type mandate wherein we were forced to serve him without feelings simply because He is Lord and God of all.  No.  Not nearly…not even close to what He wants from us.

Jesus does not want us to love him ‘so that’ we get the big bag of ‘things’ that He gives us when we join the ‘believers club’.  No.  Not nearly…not even close to what He wants from us.

Jesus wants us to love Him so that we can experience His love..so that we can experience “HIM” in all of who he is and what He is.   He holds the keys to all of the best goodies on the top shelf: eternal life, peace beyond understanding, power over death, joy unspeakable and full of glory, and He tells us that when we join the believers club, he will never leave us or forsake us and never cancel our membership.  But…again…He doesn’t want us to love Him because of what he can give us.  No..not nearly…not even close.

Jesus wants us to love Him because it is the highest and most noble thing we can do as a created being.  Recognize, honor, worship, and love, our Creator, Lord, King of the universe because He is worthy.   Loving Him is the thing of ‘best interest’ that we can do as a created being.  It is the most expeditious activity as relates to our highest potential for overall well-being.  Basically…it is what we were created for…to love God.

Jesus wants us to love Him because in the terms and conditions of His believers club…He can’t fully love us and give us all of who and what He is unless we love Him back with all our might, power, and strength.   Oh…He loves us sooo much…that when we join the club…he does give us forgiveness and eternal life.  Wow.  What a introductory membership gift!!!

Jesus wants us to love Him because as our Creator…as the designer of our internal software program….He designed it so that the highest level of ‘living life’ experience can only come from loving Him to the point where we ‘want’ to keep His commandments and obey His ‘how to live life’ rules.

Romans 5:8 kind of sums it all up as to how much He loves us and how much He wanted to ‘invest’..in you and me loving Him back:  Paul wrote.. “God demonstrated His love for us by doing this:  while we were still sinners, Jesus died for us.”    He loved us soooooooo much, before we ever knew Him, before we ever joined the club, that He died the death we deserved.  Now ‘THAT‘ is love.  He earned our love by taking your/my place and dying the death we deserve and giving us forgiveness and eternal life…but more than that…much more than that…He gave us Himself.

Christmas is not what He did or can do for us…it is what He is ‘to’ us.  It is not what He gives us..but that He is our source and supply for love and life.  It is He, Himself, Jesus…He ‘is’ our life and love.

Our Lord and God…I realize my love and devotion to you are paltry compared to your perfect love for me.   Forgive me for that.  You deserve my best and highest.   I pray that you will energize me and give me the desire and ability to love you more, worship you more, and serve you more in this upcoming new year.  In your ‘words’ to us in the bible…you say that we prove our love for you ‘by’ following your commands on ‘how’ to conduct our lives…how to love others.   So I pray that all of us will spend more time in your ‘words’ this upcoming year ‘so that’ we will know more of how we can prove and demonstrate our love for you…so we will know ‘how’ to do that.   I pray that for all of us.   Thank you that you love us all so unconditionally and perfectly.  Help us to come to deeply understand and know what John wrote for us in 1 John 4:19 ” We love…because He first loved us.”   Amen

Happy New Year to all of you.

Light into the Darkness

Sooo…as we linger in this last week of 2017…still basking in the ‘good news and great joy’ of Christmas…let’s continue to think-through what had occurred in Bethlehem 2000 years ago.

From the last prophet who spoke the word or message of God in the Old Testament record…Malachai…400 years had passed since we ‘hear’ mention that God is saying something to his people in a mass communication, per say.   And then…all at once…after 400 years of silence…about 2000 years ago…God speaks.  God sends the angel Gabriel to convey a message of ‘good news and great joy’.  And when the message of God and the messenger of God show up…there is always ‘light’ and ‘awe’ and ‘glory’ that shines all-around..and God is praised and given glory.

Luke 2:8- NIV, ..And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  An angel (most think this was Gabriel since he was also making other appearances, bringing messages to others at this same period of time) of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.  But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid.  I bring yougood news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord  This will be a sign to you:  You will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger.”….and suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”  When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”  So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.  When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.  But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.  The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

When we come to truly ‘see’ the Christ..when we come to ‘know’ Him..the King and Lord of all of life..the Savior of the world….we will do what the shepherds did…what the wise men from the east also did…we will worship, praise, and glorify God ‘for what’ we have come to see and know.  And…we will be like the shepherds and ‘spread’ the word about what we have seen and what we know.

Just as the shepherds were out in the night.. out in the dark of night…and the message of God was delivered by the angel…and light shined around them…such is our experience when we come to the revelation and knowledge of the Christ.  The Holy Spirit makes Jesus, the Christ, known to us.  We behold him…we see the light of life.  We are brought-out of darkness. That ‘light’…the presence of God the Holy Spirit…the person of God the Holy Spirit…comes to live inside us…we have Him..Christ…Jesus…THE LIGHT HIMSELF…living inside us.. and we ‘will’ go out and spread the news and we will praise and glorify God.

Since that first Christmas season…when and where the ‘good news of great joy’ first came to us…God has continued to speak..to bring His message of good news and great joy.  The light and glory and awe are with us every day.  HE…lives in you.  That Christmas light is in you and is with you.   And HE prompts you to spread the good news and great joy that a Savior has come.

YOU are the light of the world.  Let it shine in 2018.

The Value of Prayer  (written by an international missionary…was reading of his ministry and loved what he wrote about prayer…)

If you are too busy to pray, you are too busy.

“And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.” Luke 6:12

It seems our worth is measured by what we accomplish and can be quantitatively measured. While there is nothing wrong with trying to be productive, Jesus shows us there is high value in sacrificing our lives in that which doesn’t always show an immediate and tangible response.

There is value in spending time “…in prayer to God.”

An example of this in Jesus’ life is when just before He chose twelve apostles, He spent the entire night in prayer. He did this often. Luke says that Jesus “frequently withdrew to the wilderness to pray.” Luke 5:16

One of the lessons we learn from this is that Jesus would sacrifice time and energy, even time preaching and healing (which He was sent by God to do) so He couldpray. If He did, so should we.

Finding time to pray will be difficult if we don’t place a high value on it, but if we follow the life and example of Jesus we’ll find time to pray. Or better said, we’ll make time to pray. Consider Jesus’ life.

If we read the Gospels we’ll find that Jesus’ life wasn’t just busy, it was intense. There were often people crowding around Him, always talking to Him, always demanding His time and attention.

This is why in order for Jesus to be alone, He often would have to “go up on the mountain by Himself to pray.” Matthew 14:23 Prayer requires sacrifice. But what isthe value of prayer? Why pray?

A pursuit of prayer allows us to seek, to find and be able to commune with God. Listen to the prophet Isaiah express this. He said, “At night my soul longs for You, Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently.” Isaiah 26:9

Note that Isaiah says, “my spirit within me seeks You diligently.” It’s what Paul calls our “inner man” that is strengthened when we pray.

David shows us that when we are emotionally, physically, and spiritually weak and weary the only place we should go to find the spiritual water to quench our thirsty soul is to God in prayer.

David said in Psalm 63:1  “O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water.”

If we take the time and effort, we’ll discover that God has placed in each of us a spiritual hunger and desire that our lives would have eternal worth and meaning.

What we are all looking for in life is only found in a personal relationship with God. Even if we obtain all our life goals, and accomplish all we set out to do, what value is there in all that when we die?

But a pursuit of God in prayer can take us to the place where we realize that only through repentance of our sin and drawing near to God can we find the peace and purpose we all seek. Prayer will take us to such as place, praying through Jesus as our mediator is the road to get us there.

“Father please, help us to live lives of prayer.”

Amen

Love Remains

I find I get a tad melancholy in the weeks between Christmas and the upcoming beginning of a New Year.   I think a part of it is ‘as I grow older’…I realize just how much more quickly the last year seemed to pass and it makes me almost afraid to see the next ‘new ‘year open its door and begin because I know just how fast it too will speed by.

Those verses in the bible that speak to the truth of this come to mind;

Psalm 144:4, NIV “Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow.”

James 4:14..NIV “What is your life?  You are a mist that appears for little while and then vanishes.”

If there is one thing that holds through time…regardless of how time treats us or moves us from season to season and year to year…the one thing that holds constant and is forever true…is that LOVE is and will always be that ‘one thing’ that we can be and do that is always the highest and best activity.   Love is that ‘forever and eternal’ gift to all of the people that come onto the stage of the life we live.

So… as we are wrapping up the end of another year ….getting ready to begin a new one….let us set our hearts and minds to love with all our might.   Let each of us leave a legacy of love for the people that we share space in all the areas of our lives.

So I pray that in 2018….that we will love deeper and further and wider and longer.   God created love…every aspect of it in its full emotional and intellectual experience because He ‘is’ love and He wanted us to have that knowledge and experience of the wonder and awe of love.   It is the one thing that we know we can do to guide all of our activities toward others that will last forever.   Love, love, and love, like there is no tomorrow.   Amen

Today’s Daily Light

Almost Christmas 😊

Friends… I want to thank you for being a part of Daily Light.  With your help, we are sending DL to people across the United States and in India and S. America.  Our goal is to provide motivation and encouragement for people to be all they can be ‘in’ Christ ‘so that’ they can produce much fruit with their lives.  I end this week, wishing you a joyous Christmas season as we celebrate the birth of our Savior.

The following is a writing from John Piper.   I think it further portrays the awe and wonder of our Great God and Father who ‘chose’ to freely give us His Son as our Savior.

Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases. (Psalm 115:3)
This verse teaches that whenever God acts, he acts in a way that pleases him.
God is never constrained to do a thing that he despises. He is never backed into a corner where his only recourse is to do something he hates to do.
He does whatever he pleases. And therefore, in some sense, he has pleasure in all that he does.
This should lead us to bow before God and praise his sovereign freedom — that, in some sense, he always acts in freedom, according to his own “good pleasure,” following the dictates of his own delights.
God never becomes the victim of circumstance. He is never forced into a situation where he must do something in which he cannot rejoice. He is not mocked. He is not trapped or cornered or coerced.
Even at the one point in history where he did what in one sense was the hardest thing for God to do, “not spare his own Son” (Romans 8:32), God was free and doing what pleased him. Paul says that the self-sacrifice of Jesus in death was “a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God” (Ephesians 5:2). The greatest sin, and the greatest death, and the hardest act of God was, in some profound way, pleasing to the Father.
And on his way to Calvary, Jesus himself had legions of angels at his disposal. “No one takes [my life] from me, but I lay it down of my own accord” (John 10:18) — of his own good pleasure — “for the joy that is set before him,” as it says in Hebrews 12:2. At the one point in the history of the universe where Jesus looked trapped, he was totally in charge doing precisely what he pleased — dying to glorify his Father in justifying the ungodly, like you and me.
So, let us stand in awe and wonder. And let us tremble that not only our praises of God’s sovereignty but also our salvation through the death of Christ for us, hang on this: “Our God is in heaven; he does whatever he pleases.”
Father…I am in awe of YOU.  Every day that I have life and breath…I am in awe.  I am in awe that you put up with me and continue to love me and that you are so kind, loving, and patient with me as you lead and guide me through the journey of this temporary thing we call life.   I treasure YOU above all things.  I am sooo thankful…soooo thankful that you gave me/us Jesus.  And precious Jesus…you are simply beyond amazing…to lay down, even for a little while, your high heavenly office as God the Son and come down onto our stage, put on human skin and play the part of the lamb tht must die…feel the pain, take the medicine of death and suffering, and then overcome and conquer it as only YOU could do… ‘so that’ I/we could spend eternity with you.   Wow…what a Father..what a Son…and what a Savior.   Amen

The ‘Lamb’ of Christmas… The Lamb of God…Past, Present, Future

At the Creation Museum in Petersbug, KY…..The following naration was provided by a woman acting the part of Mary, the mother of Jesus as
she talks about the Jewish sacrificial system. Mary says (in a passionate way):

Our sacrifice always had to be perfect—God required it. I have memories as a little girl, when my family would pick our best lamb from the flock. The priest took his knife and … . It always broke my heart, but my parents insisted that all of us were there. They wanted to make sure we each understood how terrible sin is, and just how much it costs to cover it … [In the video, you’ll see Mary and her family watching this beautiful animal—and they see the priest’s knife. The priest holds the lamb up above the altar, and you really sense what Mary and her family must have sensed and experienced as the event broke their hearts.]
One day, after I was engaged to Joseph, I was visited by an angel of God. He told me not to be afraid, and that I was to give birth to a child, and that I should call him Jesus.
I asked how this could be, since I was still a virgin. The angel told me the power of the Most High would overshadow me, and my son would be called the Son of God. Of course, one day I learned that my son would be called something else as well—a lamb.

The Lamb – Past
Revelations 13:8 NIV John wrote “All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast – all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world.”
1 Peter 18-20 NIV Peter wrote “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the preicious blod of Christ, a lamb with blemish or defect.  He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.”

The Lamb – Present
John 1:29 NIV John wrote “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
1 Corinthians 5:7 NIV Paul wrote “For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.”
Hebrews 10:1 NIV Paul wrote “And by the will of God, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jeus Christ once for all.”

The Lamb – Future
Revelations 7:7-10 NIV John wrote “After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.”
Revelations 19:6-9 John wrote “Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: Hallelujah!  For our Lord God Almight reigns.  Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come and his bride has made herself ready. Fine line, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.) Then the angelsaid to me, Wriote:  Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!”
My friends…in this Christmas season…2017 years after the birth of our Savior…our Lamb…I pray that more than ever you will see what God has given us in His son, Jesus Christ, our sacraficial Lamb.  Your gift this Christmas season is to ‘know’ that before the world was created…God knew you, called you, and placed you safely in the eternal keeping of His Lamb.  The Lamb of God is our ‘forever’ Lamb.  He always was, He always is, He always will be, ‘your’ best gift of all times and all seasons.  He has you name written in His Book of Life and he has sent you an invitation to come to a dinner to be held in His honor…. So…celebrate Him..Jesus…your forever Lamb.  And ‘go’…go out and share the story of ‘your’ forever Lamb.   Amen

Today’s Daily Light
Yep…That’s a Spinning Wheel  (hope picture of spinning wheel came through)

Wikipedia says:  A spinning wheel is a device for spinning thread or yarn from natural or synthetic fibres.
Romans 10:17  Paul wrote “Faith..comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.”
Hebrews 11: 1  Paul wrote “Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do see.

We hear at 2 levels….we receive communication at 2 levels…internal, and external.   When something comes to us through our external senses, i.e., we hear, we see, we feel, we smell.  We  are constantly surrounded by external communication.   External communication them seeps down into our ‘understanding’…where we process and reason…where we filter and organize the communication into whatever degree of input or use it has for us.   And then we have the internal level of communication that is the function of our spirit…our internal spirit…the level of consciousness…the deepest ‘self’…where we are ‘aware’ at the deepest level.   And it is within this level…where God’s Spirit merges with out spirit…where ‘divine’ knowing takes place.  And it is ‘divine’ level of knowing where we are absolutely sure and certain.

Think of faith as a communication line…like your internet line, phone line, or wifi.   It is the line that connects us to ‘divine’ knowing.  Such level of knowing is sure…the surest sure…it is certain..absolute.  It is substance..not shadow.   Faith is not a leap..not a gooey…hoped for non-substance.  It is of God-made, divine substance.

Hebrews 11 is often referred to as the ‘by’ faith chapter…Paul gives us many, many illustrations of what people did or accomplished ‘by’ faith.   Read it.

Faith comes to us through hearing the word of God..the word of Christ…through the inspiration of God’s Spirit speaking to our internal spirit.     When we come to Christ…or when we became what we refer to as ‘being saved’…when we first became a believer…God sends His Holy Spirit to ‘live’ inside us.   The Spirit then hooks-us-up to the divine knowing communication line…called faith…a real, solid substance, certain, sure, communication line.  And it is through the flow of communication from God to us…at the divine level…at the mystical / unseen spirit level…we divinely KNOW…we are sure, certain, that His is ours and we are His.

Now what the heck does a spinning wheel have to do with this 😊.  Well….If you don’t know what one is…go to youtube or such and watch one in action.   Basically..it was used (and some purist still use them) to weave yarn to make clothes and other products that are made of natural fibers….it makes stuff…it weaves…through spinning.  You have to sit at the device and learn to use it…you have to ‘move’ it…you have to work with it to get it to do what it is designed to do….called ‘spinning’.

When we spend time in the word…when we are thinking about God…when we are meditating on Jesus….when we are praying….when we worship….when we are in ‘communication with God’….we are spinning….we are making something…we are growing our spiritual man..our faith line.

The more we spin through/by our ‘faith’ line….the more we receive and send communication…the stronger the line becomes…the longer it becomes…the deeper it becomes rooted.

When you pray and spend time with the Lord…when you are thinking on Him..His will..His ways…time in His word…..see yourself as sitting at a spinning wheel and …plugged in, through the line of faith, to your heavenly Father…and just sit there and spin…knowing that you are producing something at the divine level.   Over time this is where you grow….this is where all strength and power and understanding comes from…sitting at the spinning wheel, connected by ‘faith’…to your heavenly Father.

Okay…spin…spin in the morning…in the middle of the night….when you walk…when your are in your car…..and your faith will grow and get bigger and you will produce more eternal fruit…and that is why we are here…what we are called to do….to produce eternal fruit for Jesus….spinning is ‘the’ spiritual discipline where through the gift and power of ‘faith’ we are connected to source and supply.

Amen

Christmas ‘reconciles’ us to God…and ‘that’ brings us true Peace and Joy

Romans 5:18  Paul wrote to us .. “Therefore..since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.  And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.  Not only so, but we alsorejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.  And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, who he has given us.  You see, at just the right time, when were were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.  Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:   While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Wow!   There are so many glorious and sweet morsels of truth in what Paul writes above…re-read it…soak it up.   Monday, in 1st John, we spoke of the ‘love of God’…that God gives us love because He ‘is’ love.  That we are born of love.   And Paul reiterates this truth… that to demonstrates His love for us…that while we were lost and separted from Him…while we were lost…while we had gone astray…while we did not deserve to be found…that JUST at the right time…the perfect time for you…the perfect time for me….God sent Jesus to find us and bring us home.   Wow!  Wow!

Father…thank you for loving us sooo much that you sent Jesus to find us.   That while we were in darkness and totally lost…totally oblivious to your love… YOU loved us soooo much that YOU gave us Jesus….YOU sent Him to be our Savior and find us and save us and bring us home to you.    I thank you that we belong to you ‘now’…and throughout eternity.   Thank you that we have eternal peace and joy ‘in’ Jesus.   Thank you, thank you.  Amen

Daily Light – Dec 19, 2017

Your daily goal:
Philippians 3:14  “press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
(Monday-Friday, from my morning quiet time, I will write a short thought for that day which I pray God will use to motivate you to ‘GO’ for that day.  Your objective is simple…to GO…to GO OUT and share the love of Christ with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)

Today’s Daily Light

How To Overcome the World.

1 John 5:1-5, 19-20 NIV  John wrote to us…

1-5 “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.  This is how we know that we love the children of God:  by loving God and carrying out his commands.  This is love for God:  to obey his commands.  And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world.  This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.  Who is it that overcomes the world?  Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

19-20 “We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.  We know also that the Son of God has come and has give us understanding, ‘so that’ we may know him who is true.  And we are in him who is true – even in his Son Jesus Christ.  He is the true God and eternal life.’

Just looking out of my window as the sun came up this morning…the birds beginning to come to the feeder…the beauty of trees, of nature…the quiet of my home…the smell of coffee….kind of hard to grasp that the ‘world’ out there is under the control of evil.   But I know it is….just turn on your t.v….read the newspaper…and kaboom…back to reality 101.   We live in a fallen world which is under the control of the dark side.   The total objective of the dark side and its evil leader is to ‘blind’ the world to the reality of the truth of God…of the truth of Jesus the Savior.   The dark sides hates anything related to the truth of God.  It’s sole purpose is to keep the people in the world in blindness and deception and running on the hamster wheels that come in all shapes and sizes that the dark side has in its arsenal…and such hamster wheels are designed per each individual person…simply to create an illusion of forward movement, activity, busy-ness…to keep us doing anything and everything that keeps us from seeing the light of truth which is only found in the Word of God which are his instructions for how we should live…how we should function in this fallen system as children of God who have been called out of this world system and into His eternal kingdom.

I don’t wish to throw out so many big thoughts here this morning…..so let me bare down and focus a bit…..    The only way we can overcome the pull and suck of the power of the dark side and its system (the world)…is to be regenerated and transformed into the image of Christ.   We do that through re-birth ‘in’ Christ…   We put our faith in Jesus as the Savior..and we become born into the family of God.  We then have God’s spirit come to live inside us and it is ‘He’..the Spirit of God, that transforms us and gives us the power to overcome the pull and suck of the world.   Even though we immediately gain eternal life and will ultimately have eternal victory….  we still can get stuck in this quagmire world system…because… when we become a believer in Christ Jesus…the dark side goes to work double time to try to keep us from transforming into the image of our glorious Savior.  But Jesus has already won the battle for us and He promises that if we will obey His commands and abide in Him that we will produce fruit and overcome. ‘

So go…overcome!   Christ the Savior is yours!     Amen

Today’s Daily Light

Jesus the Savior is ‘Love’

God is Love

We Must Be ‘Love’

1 John, chapter 4:7-17  “Let us love one another, for love comes from God.  Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.  Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

This is how God showed his love among us:  He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.  This is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.  Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in us and is love is made complete in us.  We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.  And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.  If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God.  And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.  God is love.  Whoever lives in love lives in and God, and God in Him.  In this way, love is made complete…”

Soooo…John tells us that the essence of God’s nature….the essence of who and what He is…is LOVE.   It is because of God’s love that He gave us Jesus ‘so that’ we might live through Him/Jesus… ‘so that’ this same God-love might be in us… ‘so that’ we can pass this love on and around to the world around us… ‘so that’ we can learn to have this same God-love be the main energy and life and light that leads and motivates and guides us into all of our activities.   God designed it ‘so that’ His love, through the life of Jesus inside us, is reproduced inside us ‘so that’ we can love the world…love others…and in this way…the love of God that goes out/comes from God…and is born in us…goes out to others….and thus God’s love is made complete…. the true ‘circle of love’…

Father…help me to search myself everyday to see if your love is alive and at work in me motivating and energizing me to love others.   Help me to see that ‘if’ I am ‘in’ Jesus, Your son, then I do have your love in me because you are love…and so if you are love and Jesus is love…I will be love.  And that is ‘how’ the world will know that I belong to you…if I love like you love.   Help me to see this more and more this Christmas season.  Amen
