Today’s Daily Light:

 Seed and Soil
 
Matthew 13:3-9  Jesus said this to a large group of people “A farmer went out to sow his seed.  As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.  Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil.  It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow.  But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.  Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants.  Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop – a hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown.  He who has ears, let him hear.”
 
We are the farmer.  Farmers are to plant seed. That’s what farmers do.  They are active…they plant seed. We must plant/scatter seed in and on all occasions.  We do not know the quality of the soil that receives the seed we sow.  The nature of the ‘Kingdom of God’ is that only God, in His sovereignty ‘knows’ the quality of the soil…whether or not it will produce a crop…and thus the quality of the crop.   We are farmers in the Kingdom…ours is to scatter seed…God’s is to grow seed.  May you scatter seed today.

Today’s Daily Light:

Matthew 7:13-14   Jesus said  “Enter through the narrow gate.  For the wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.    
 
All one has to do is just look around..anywhere you go…everything you see on t.v….and it is so apparent that the majority/mainstream mindset does not see or hold to a God entranced world view.   They do not see the Kingdom of God ‘coming’ in the earth.  They are not even aware of its existence.  They do not see Jesus as Lord of the universe.   Their is no awareness of eternal judgment.  The majority of the world has taken the wide gate of the broad roadway that leads to destruction.
‘Life’…real life…the deepest meaning of ‘life’…that leads to eternal life…can only be discovered, seen, and understood through a person/people coming to a personal revelation of a God entranced worldview.  This ‘revelation’ comes from a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ…a ‘conversion’ experience must take place ‘inside’ a person in order (‘so that) they can see and understand that true ‘life’..real life…is in and through Jesus Christ.   There are no other paths or shortcuts…no man-made detours off the broad road…that lead to eternal truth and eternal life.   Jesus is the only doorway into the vast eternal realm of eternal truth and life.   Jesus says ‘the road road that leads to this life is narrow..and is vastly different in what it does, where it leads, the demands it makes…than is the ‘broad’ road of the way of the dark side.  I personally believe that the narrow road runs smack dab down the middle of the broad road…is surrounded by the broad road..but separate from it….is ‘in’ it..but not of it.   It is designed this way ‘so that’ we narrow road-runners can reach-out to those on the broad road and shine a light for them that points to the doorway onto the narrow road…and that doorway is in and through Jesus Christ…   We are in this world but not of it.  We are to ‘mix and mingle’, with caution, but with purpose…we are the light of and to the people on the broad road.  We are to shine our lights on Jesus ‘so that’ the lost can see ‘Him’.
Father…I ache for the people of the world…that are all around us everyday…who are trapped and lost on the wide road that leads to destruction.  Help us to see that there is nothing more important to us in every waking moment of every day than is for us to keep our batteries charged in our lights and lamps ‘so that’ we are constantly shining our lights out onto the wide road for the lost to see YOU..and the road to eternal life.   Help us Father.  Amen

Today’s Daily Light:

(My home computer had a system crash yesterday…so the reason for no DL yesterday).

 

The story goes back many years to a small village-town in Mexico…poor peasant farm community that had endured 3 years of sparse rain…they and their few farm animals were weary, tired, and always hungry.  The small stream near the village was dry and they had to carry water by donkey down from the mountain range that was very far away from the village.   There was much sickness in the village from the lack of enough food and water.
One day, a stranger rode into town on a donkey.   The village people did not have many strangers come to their town and they all came out to meet the stranger.   The stranger introduced himself to the people and said ‘hello..my name is Senor (Se·ñor).   Would someone please let me stay with you for this night in your villa and give me something to eat?”  The people were not sure how to respond since they did not have extra food and they did not know the stranger…but one older woman who had a sick husband said “Sir..please stay in our villa with us tonight and we will share the last piece of bread we have with you.”   Senor said ‘thank you”..and he followed the woman to her home.   The next morning the woman came running down the street saying..”come and see what Senor has done for my husband and for our home.”   All of the people went to the woman’s home and saw that the husband was up and walking around and that the house was full of fresh food and the water cans were full of water.
One of the people that lived in the village was a small boy name Pepe who lived with his widowed mother.   Pepe was shy and stood in the background but carefully watched as one by one all of the people invited Senor to come and stay in their homes in the Village.   Pepe saw that wherever Senor visited the people became healed and the house was full of food and water.   Senor visited all of the homes in village while he was with the people.
The village people were happy that Senor had come to their village because they were no longer hungry or thirsty and their health had returned.   But one day, the word spread that Senor was preparing to leave the village.   The village people came to the house where Senor was staying and pleaded with him to stay and continue to give them food and water.  But Senor explained that he must leave because there were many other villages that he must visit.   Many of the people were angry that he would not stay and continue to give them food and water.
At sunrise, on the day Senor was to leave the Village, he said goodbye to the few people that had come to say goodbye and thank him for all that he had done for them.   And then Senor walked through the Village gate and started down the dusty roadway on his donkey.  All of a sudden Senor heard the voice of a small boy calling to him “Senor..Senor stop!”  Senor stopped and saw that it was Pepe running after him down the dusty roadway.  Senor said “Pepe..what do you want?”   And Pepe said “Senor..please do not go..please stay…please do not go.”    And Senor said “Pepe…I have given you and all of the people all that I have to give…you are well…and you have food and water.  What else is there for me to give you?  I have given you everything that I have…everything that I can give.”   And Pepe said “Senor..I do not want you to give me something…I want YOU!   All I want is you Senor…All I want is you.”
This is a story I heard many years ago as shared by a Catholic priest.  The point of the story is to make us see that what Jesus wants from us is ‘not’ for us to see what He can give us…not to just see what He can do for us…but to see that He is our constant supply…that ‘He’, Himself, is our supply…not simply what He can do for us.
Father…You are more than what you have done for us and what you do and will always do for us.  You are our life.  You are our heart’s desire.  You are source and supply to fill the very core of our being and existence.   It is you..It is you that we must seek and long for and desire…our dear precious Jesus….our wonderful Father….thank you, that you offer us fellowship with YOU! Help us to come to the point where our heart’s desire is “All we want is You!   Amen

Today’s Daily Light:
 
The Lamp Of Our Body
Luke 11:33-36   Jesus said   “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl.  Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.  Your eye is the lamp of your body.  When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light.  But when they are bad, you body also is full of darkness.  Se to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.  Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you.’
And…as I also used in yesterday’s thought….a little song from childhood…I use another verse from a child’s song today…. “oh be careful little eyes what you see…oh be careful little eyes what you see…” 
Father…I know that the things that we want come from the things that we see or have seen…we build the library of ideas and memories in our mind from what we see.   We think about what we see or have seen.   Now that we know the eyes are the doorway to our library…to the things that feed our hearts desire…  help us to make sure we spend time with you …in your word…in your presence…because you are light and good and love and pure and we want You to be our heart’s desire.  I know that the darkness gives its own illusion of light and seeks to confuse our eyes… but your ‘word’ and your Spirit inside us tells us the truth and shines the light of truth.  So, Father, help us not to fall for the power of the illusion…for it is powerful and deceptive and over time can diminish our light.   We want to be bright lights for You dear Father…we do…with all our hearts…so give us desire and ability to ‘seek’ light for our lamp ‘so that’ the light inside us stays bright and does not grow dim and dark ‘so that’ we can be light to others.   Amen

Today’s Daily Light:

We Are Light That Is Meant to Shine…So Shine

Matthew 5:14-16  Jesus said “You are the light of the world.  A city on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

Ephesians 5:8    Paul says    “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.  Live as children of light.”

When we were saved/redeemed/received new birth in Christ…through the work of regeneration in our spirit-man…through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of God…we received ‘light’.  The reason was ‘so that’ we would carry that light around in this dark world and shine the truth of God…the love of God…the existence of God….to shine that on the darkness.   Are we doing that with all of our might…??

Remember the song you sang in Sunday School as a child… “this little light of mine…I’m gonna let it shine…let it shine…let it shine…let it shine.”

Father…we know we have your light inside us and we know we are to be light.   Life and darkness drain our batteries and wear us down and we grow spiritually dim…and for me, I know I have to spend time in your word..in prayer and praise or I will loose power…become dim….my personal experience tells me that my batteries get drained and  I will waste a lot of time and not be an effective light….help me not to do that as much I seek to finish this race strong.   I pray the same for my family and friends…help us dear Father to be consistent light.  Amen

Today’s Daily Light:

Bringing Light Into Darkness

2 Corinthians 4:4   Paul writes “The god (Satan) of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”

The ‘Eclipse’ declares the ‘glory’ of God at many levels.   The obvious declaration of glory is simply the beyond-understanding mechanical and physical science that is involved in the existence and sustainment of a solar system.   Duh…over the top…beyond profound…call it… ‘Gi-normous’.   Mega-Wow.  What kind of mind…power…does it take to create and sustain a solar system???

And then consider the comparative analogy related to the ‘light’ that the resurrection of God-the-Son, Jesus, brought into the darkness with His triumph over darkness and death.   We were all in darkness…the path of totality of darkness….blind to the truth of the light of God….and God chose to give us light and freedom from blindness and darkness and give us eternal light..in and through His Son, Jesus.   And ‘THAT’ is beyond Gi-normous!

On the surface level of just common sense…we who have seen and experienced the light (salvation in and through Jesus)…we struggle with the reality that the majority of the people on the planet…let me say that again…the majority….do not see or personally know Jesus to be God, the Son of God, Creator and Lord of the life…Lord of the universe.   How can that be…we even have events in the heavens that declare His glory….every day that we awake and see a sunrise….see a sunset…it screams of His existence….how can they not know and see.??

And the word of God says that they cannot see because they have been blinded by the power of the dark side…  the word says the ‘god’ (Satan) of this present age…the age of this temporary time on planet earth…this time where we live a short part of our eternal life…here…and it is in this short time wherein we will either come to know the ‘light’ of God’s salvation…come to know Jesus who is the light of the world…or we won’t.   And thus..the gravity of the situation is stark…it is an eternal bottom line situation….the fight for life and death…eternal life and death…and thus here we stand..us who have been called…by Grace…into this glorious eternal light with a Gi-normous glorious God who is our Savior.  And we know that we know Him…we know that He alone is eternal life and light…but all around us are people that are blind and cannot and do not know Him…and such is our calling and work….to be light to the lost world around us….’so that’ we can be all that we were intended to be…to be light in the darkness.

John 8:12   Jesus said “I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

More thoughts on God as Creator and the Eclipse

Psalm 19:1-4  “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.  There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.  Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.”

The statement in Psalm 19 ‘There is no speech or language where the heavens and skies do not ‘scream’ out the truth and existence and glory of God..that He is Creator……Paul says the same thing in Romans 1:19-20… ‘since what may be known about God is plain to them’ because God has made it plan to them.  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his etrnal power and divine nature – have been cleary seen, being understood for what as been made, ‘so that’ men are without excuse.’

There is no people/race on the earth who are not daily in view of the heavens and skies….even the wonder and glory of the beauty of the physical world of nature that is attached to the earth’s surface….the heavens..the skies…nature….all are designed to communicate to ‘people’ the existence and glory of God ‘so that’ all people are without excuse of the existence of God.  The ‘evidence’ in science loudly and clearly reveals the vast superior mind of God…a level of ‘intelligent’ design and order that is beyond random selection and happen-chance.   God is the only intelligent and sensible explanation to the existence of all of life.

And in the book that He wrote…He tells us so…that He is Creator and sustainer of life…of all things…and in that same book….he also..in much detail…states His love and affection for us…and He states the intended purpose and reason for our existence…that we may know HIM…the only true God….and be united with Him in a personal relationship that is eternal.   Wow….

Father…we glorify you…the only wise God…perfect, loving, and true…and we glorify God-the-Son, Jesus, and we thank you that Jesus is our pathway and door to you.   Praise be to our glorious God.  Amen

God Demonstrating that ‘He Is’…   The Eclipse…  

Romans 1:20   Paul says “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, ‘so that’ men are without excuse.”

The moon has a radius of 1079 miles and maintains an average distance from the earth of 238,855 miles.   The sun has a radius of 432,288 miles and is 92,955,807 miles from the earth.   And so what is the chance, just out of blind luck, that 2 objects moving in space with such different radius size and so far apart…that they align to the eye of ONLY viewers on planet earth in this geo zone we refer to as the ‘path of totality’…where this alignment can best be viewed to capture the most precise 2 minutes of the alignment…the moon passing in front of, or covering over, the sun.  ?  What is the chance of this occurring?   None…as to chance.

You owe it to yourself to study from some of the top minds in theoretical physics..many of who do not profess Christianity…but through their observation of science have come to a theoretical conception that is now known as the Anthropic Principle:

Wikipedia definition:  the anthropic principle is a philosophical consideration that observations of the Universe must be compatible with the conscious and sapient life that observes it.

Basically the principle is saying that from what can be ‘seen’ in science as relates to our universe…it appears as though ‘all’ of what can be seen and how it all works and holds together…was designed to be viewed from planet earth…like it was put on display to be preferably viewed from planet earth.

So ‘huh’…wonder how that happened…and why ??   No..I don’t wonder how or why.

So today…use this glorious and wonderous event of the Elipse to praise and worship God…our Creator.   He created ‘all’ of this for us to see His glory…to have a super sense of who He is and what He can do.

Father….I honestly am blown away by how amazingly powerful and smart you are.   My poor little mind cannot even begin to fathom all this.   But in the place inside me..in my spirit…I ‘know’…I know that you are the Creator and sustainer of it ‘all’….and of me.  And I am thankful that you are for us and not against us…that you say you love us.  Wow…and thus how safe we are…in your powerful and eternal hands.   I praise you and worship you Glorious Lord and God.   You alone are my God and I will proclaim your name before all.  Amen

Today’s Daily Light:
This Week we will ‘Graze’ in the Word to remind ourselves of who He is..and who we are and what we have ‘IN’ Him 
 
The verse for today is Jesus talking to Nicodemus…. GOD talking here….this verse is like a 20 oz filet mignon with a loaded twice baked potato on the side. 😊 .   Read it…graze in it…absorb the truth in it….
John 3:19-21  Jesus said “This is the verdict (the bottom line): Light has come into the world (Jesus), but men loved darkness instead of lightbecause their deeds were evil.  Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.   But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, ‘so that’ it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”
Think of all the people around us everyday…in the work place…social situations…at the grocery store….your neighbors…family.   I’m talking about the ‘good’ folks all around us…Christians and non.  Think about how all of us seem to be, to some degree, trapped on the hamster wheel of the game of life…working, consuming, seeking our fulfillment and happiness in this temporary worldly realm… our love for God/Jesus is a faint second to our investment in this temporary wheel.   I know this because I have spent a lot of my life on that wheel…almost feeling ‘trapped’ at times…  Yes..I am a believer…but the more time I spend in the word/light…the more it shines on my wheel.  I have tried to disguise my wheel so it doesn’t look like a wheel..hang plaques with bible verses on it 😊…. I view myself as a guy who really does seek to please and honor the Lord with my life.. while I run on my wheel…oh..how I love my wheel…I keep it shiny and greased and invest a lot of time and energy in ‘my’ wheel.   But the word/light tells me that my wheel relates to mostly my own selfish desires..not evil desires…just the ‘caught-up’ in the cares-of this life in things that are not eternally oriented.   Sooo…what to do…and the answer is to ‘press on’…spend more time in the light…God’s word…time with Jesus…because I realize there is a war to be won….and I am not speaking about our eternal salvation…no….Jesus accomplished ‘that’ for us on the cross…in what He did that we could not do for ourselves…He alone is our salvation…no…I speak of the daily war of our demonstration to obedience to Christ…the demonstration of our love for Jesus in all we say and do…our internal ‘taking up of our cross’…daily….where the demands of the Cross come in contact with the demands of our sin nature….where we must continue to learn ‘through’ faith and believing that God’s way and will are better than what our fallen mind tells us is the path to happiness…Sooo…I know I must continue, to demonstrate to Jesus my love for Him..to fight that fight…to seek to increase my production of fruit.    And it is a fight….and we must keep on keepin on and through our faith in Jesus…what He says and can do in and through us….we seek to hear Him say ‘well done good and faithful servant’…wow…I really want to hear Him say that……but key is to see the light and truth and seek to walk in it as much as we can ‘so that’ we can be light to the world around us.   It ain’t easy…seeking to walk in the light of truth..we are at war with the dark side….But we have the winner on our side…Jesus..and He promises to keep us and bring us home.   We can do all things ‘through’ Him…it is not about that He can’t take care of His end of the deal…He is MORE than able…the issue is with our heart’s desires…because we just don’t let enough light into our daily reality..We have to ‘stay’ in the light in order to see the darkness…that’s what light does..it penetrates darkness…illuminates...soo…Go for the light…

Today’s Daily Light:

This Week we will ‘Graze’ in the Word to remind ourselves of who He is..and who we are and what we have ‘IN’ Him 

Psalm 28:7  “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped.  My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to Him in song.”

Psalm 112:6-7  “Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever.  He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.”

Psalm 15 (all)   “Lord, who may dwell in our sanctuary?  Who may live on our holy hill?  He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellow man, who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the Lord, who keeps his oath even when it hurts, who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent.  He who does these things will never be shaken.”
Because of ‘grace’…because of the indwelling of God’s Spirit…we have the opportunity and capacity to walk in a fellowship with the Lord that no matter what comes our way…the good, bad, and ugly…we can never be shaken …to be that man/woman that through a walk in faith…through trusting His power that is for us and in us…through spending time with Him so He can duplicate His character in us…we can experience His presence in our lives now…dwell ‘in and with’ Him now through the fellowship of the Holy Spirit…and such is the reason we were created….’so that’ we can know the only true God…allow Him to reproduce Himself in us…’so that’ He can enjoy us and we can enjoy Him…’so that’ we can be a light to the dark world…the all of who He is in us and to us is more than just for our individual blessing…we are to be light to the world….so shine dear ones…shine…and may your heart leap for joy as you give thanks to HIM.
