Daily Light – Oct 31, 2017

Your daily goal:
Philippians 3:14  “press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
(Monday-Friday, from my morning quiet time, I will write a short thought for that day which I pray God will use to motivate you to ‘GO’ for that day.  Your objective is simple…to GO…to GO OUT and share the love of Christ with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)

Today’s Daily Light:
A lot of the subject matter and materials I will be using for ‘The Reign of the King’…will be taken from the work of Steve Smith and Ying Kai, their book, T4T – A Discipleship ReRevolution.

Jesus’ entire ministry was focused on initiating the kingdom of God.  He use the word ‘kingdom’ over 100 times, while He use the word ‘church’ only twice.  His first words in Mark were about the kingdom:
Mark 1:15, NASB “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel  (good news).”

Jesus’ central prayer was about the kingdom:
Matthew 6:9-10 NASB “Pray, then, in this way:  Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed by Your name.  Your kingdom comeYour will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.”

Jesus taught us to pray that our city, neighborhood, nation or people group will so reflect His glory and reign that it is like heaven on earth.  So we ask the question…does Jesus ask us to pray for something that He doesn’t intend to fulfill?  God is not satisfied with a handful of believers, small groups or churches in a people group.  His vision is a multitude of people worshipping Him from every people group.
Jesus central mission was about the kingdom:  Matthew 24:24, NASB “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

Everything in history is moving toward this final destination.    His final teaching in acts was about the Kingdom:   Acts 1:3, NASB “To these He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God.”
Jesus’ first and last words were about the reign of the King.  They summed up His life mission.

The mission of the disciples in Acts was about the kingdom:  Acts 8:12, NASB “But when they believed Philip preaching the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, men and women alike.”

The closing words of Acts were about the Apostle Paul’s final days of ministry:  Acts 28:30-31, NASB “And he stayed two full years in his own rented quarters and was welcoming all who came to him preaching the kingdom of God and teaching concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all openness, unhindered.”

Tomorrow:   The Counter-Intuitive ‘Nature’ of the ‘way of the King’…. 😊

Father:   Please help me/us increasingly see that we were redeemed ‘into’ a kingdom… a kingdom that has a King…a kingdom that has purpose and intention that relates to YOUR eternal plan.   Help us to increasingly see ourselves as subjects and ambassadors of the King….amen
