Within all of our spiritual DNA is the ability to work to ‘build’ the Kingdom of God.   So…what is the most basic understanding or definition of the Kingdom of God?  The answer is simple:  Jesus Christ is the King…and His ‘reign’ over the earth…in and through the hearts and minds of his loyal subjects..is His kingdom.

The goal of every believer is to be a subject of the King and become an ambassador for the King.   If the believer/subject is sincere in his devotion to his King…then it would be obvious that the ‘reign of the King’ would be clearly visible in the life of the believer/subject.

The ultimate questions for each of us is this:   Are we are a hearer or a doer?  James 1:22 “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says.”   And the bottom line question for each of us is this:   Does anybody around us know that we are committed to a King because we seek to manifest the reign of His kingdom in our life?

I sometimes hear people tell me that they believe in God…that they believe in Jesus….and that they go to a church…and that they are good people…who try to work hard and not do wrong things….and that their ‘religion’ is private to them.

This next few days…maybe weeks….we will look at what our original leader of the Christian movement had to say about what He asks of us..what He wants us to do…what is the ‘norm’ of daily activity for ‘all’ of his followers….and hopefully we will ‘frame’ a working concept for all of us to be able to use to energize our spiritual DNA.

If you are a believer…then inside you…is a force that desires to be free…to come out and ‘go’ out and proclaim the Kingdom of God.

The first words in the Gospel of Mark…that Jesus said… Mark 1:15 “The time has come.  The kingdom of God is near.  Repent and believe the good news?’  His second words recorded in Mark were 1:17.. Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

Repentance means to change our whole way of thinking.   Jesus launched a kingdom that was so radical in nature that we must realign our whole concept of what God wants to do in and through us, especially in how He will do it through us.

Going to church and being a good person is not radical.  Nice…but not radical.     You were ‘called’…to be a fisherman…to be a disciple maker….your ‘faith’ was not designed to be a private matter….you have the reign of the King in your DNA.  You have been called and commissioned:   Jesus said…Mark 16:15 “Go out into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.”  Matthew 28:19 “Go and make disciples of all nations”.     

Father…I pray that over these next days/weeks…that you will stir up your spiritual DNA in all of us….I know I need to have you ‘stir’ my worldly heart…and open my eyes and help me to see more clearly ‘why’ you called us…and ‘what’ you called us to.   Amen
