(Monday-Friday, from my morning quiet time, I will write a short thought for that day which I pray God will use to motivate you to ‘GO’ for that day.  Your objective is simple…to GO…to GO OUT and share the love of Christ with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)

Today’s Daily Light:

Yesterday…we talked about how all men are ‘totally’ lost and “dead in ‘trespasses and sin”… Ephesians 2:1-2 says “And you were dead in trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following…the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience.” 

From scripture in our past studies we ‘know’ that it is the work of God’s Spirit (God the Holy Spirit) to bring the lost who are blind and live in darkness into the light and truth and revelation of God…bring the lost into a personal knowledge of..a personal relationship with God.  And it is for such personal relationship…for ‘knowing’ God and enjoying Him forever…that we were created.

Scripture teaches that the Holy Spirit has many manifestations of His work.   The two primary areas that are revealed to us in scripture from Genesis to Revelation are:

1.  Common Grace  2 Thessalonians 2:7 says “For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is take out of the way.”

1. Efficacious Grace   Efficacious | Definition of Efficacious by Merriam-Webster   effective, effectual, efficient, efficacious mean producing or capable of producing a result. effective stresses the actual production of or the power to produce an effect an..   John 16:7,13.. Jesus said .. “It is for your good that I am going away.  Unless I go away, the Counselor (The Holy Spirit) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.  When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgement…. (13) When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.  He will not speak of his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.  He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.” 

John F. Walvoord, President of Dallas Theological Seminary wrote in an article … “The doctrines of providence and of the sovereignty of God demand that the power of God be effective not only in the saved but also in the unsaved world. While the ministry of the Holy Spirit is ever primarily directed toward the Christian, it is evident that He is working in the world as well, bringing to pass the will of the Father and the Son. The Scriptures reveal that it is characteristic of the Holy Spirit to minister in scenes of disorder and sin.

The ministry of the Holy Spirit in relation to the unsaved world falls into two categories which are not necessarily independent. The Holy Spirit is given the ministry of resisting evil and restraining the world in its manifestation. To the Holy Spirit, also, is committed the task of making known the way of salvation to a race which has no natural capacity to receive it with understanding. Most of the attention of theologians during the Christian centuries has been directed to the latter ministry, that of revealing the message of salvation to the lost and providing enablement for saving faith. The ministry of the Holy Spirit in restraining sin in the world is most important, however, though few direct references are found in Scripture.”

Even in this horrible time of our history…the brutal demonstration of evil in Las Vegas yesterday…we can be assured that God is active in restraining ‘full blown evil’ from overtaking…or fully having its way in our world.   If evil could..it would destroy all of us.   It is God’s work of grace to ‘all’ that keeps the world and the majority of mankind in a checked balance.  To some, this is a difficult thing to understand.   But to us who have been called to God through the work of ‘efficacious Grace’…our eyes are open and we can see God in His work of ‘providence and sovereignty’ all folded into His wonderful work of Grace to all men…especially all who will be saved from the eventual and final wrath to come.

Wow..Great Father…I pray that you will use your people, through the work of the Holy Spirit, to minister your love and truth to the lost world…and to use us that you have called and saved to be light and love to all that hurt and mourn and are lost.   You alone, Great Father, are the answer to all the questions.   Bless your Holy Name…
