Philippians 3:14 “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
(Monday-Friday, from my morning quiet time, I will write a short thought for that day which I pray God will use to motivate you to ‘GO’ for that day. Your objective is simple…to GO…to GO OUT and share the love of Christ with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)
Today’s Daily Light:
Living with the ‘end’ in mind
Galatians 2:20 Paul says “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
2 Corinthians 5:7-10, and 17 Paul says ” We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. (and 17)… Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!’
So..let’s you and I this morning…’frame’ what Paul says above into something that we can use to focus our daily activity. So here goes… all of our roads, as believers, at the end of our earthly life, end up where we are standing before Jesus and giving an account of all of the days that we lived in our bodies with Him/Jesus living inside us. Literally we are giving an ‘account’ of what we did with our life ‘as a believer’…good and bad. So…everyday….everyday…we are one day closer to that event. The ‘end’ of this life …we appear before Jesus to give an account of what we did with our life..in relationship to what He gave us. There..I think we accurately framed that.
Paul says that the best way for us to ‘frame’..or see…or place in perspective our ‘mission’…is to SEE ourselves as God sees us…See ourselves as we are..what we became…once we became believers in the Lord Jesus Christ…. soo…what did we become? Paul says we ‘died’…we no longer live as our old identity….we become a new creation..a new identity…and that new identity is no longer just you…your new life is a now blended life that includes a ‘new’ reborn ‘you’…’with’ Jesus living inside you…
Sooo…Paul says that this ‘new life’ that we now live in this body, we have to live by faith in Jesus ‘so that’ we can make it our goal to live each day to please Him…
So, as believers in Jesus, we play each day in the end game of life…and when the final buzzer sounds…this temporary, earthly, game is over…we stand before our Head Coach / Jesus and we will review the game film. This is not about judgment for our salvation..no…that is a different judgment and ‘that’ judgment is explained in Revelation 20…great read. We stand before Jesus at the end of our life, as His…belonging to Him…having been purchased by Him through his death and shed blood…and with our works, good and bad, laid before Him…we are demonstrating how much we loved Him and lived ‘for’ Him…as opposed to how much we loved self and lived for self…. wow.
Lord…I am the first to admit that I love ‘self’ a whole bunch…too much…but I know that I would not even recognize that if it were not for your gentle and kind love prodding me, reminding me..to finish this game strong…to focus more deeply…..ohhhhh….how I appreciate that the gift of salvation is not something I have to earn….because try that I might…and I do work hard and try to please you…I know that I would come up soo short and fail to achieve the absolute perfection that is required to satisfy God’s absolute requirement for righteousness. So…today..I doublely thank you for Grace…….So…I pray you keep prodding me and give me strength each day to demonstrate my love for you in this game of life…so that when I stand before you…I will hear you say ‘Well done”….(Matthew 25)… Amen
