(Monday-Friday, from my morning quiet time, I will write a short thought for that day which I pray God will use to motivate you to ‘GO’ for that day. Your objective is simple…to GO…to GO OUT and share the love of Christ with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)
Today’s Daily Light:
(Moving on….I have decided not to continue reviewing the Catechisms. I encourage you to study them on your own in your own study time. It will help you ‘frame’ what you believe and why.)
Let’s move to look at the deep layers of the essence of 1 John 5:12… He who has the Son (Jesus) has life…he who does not have the Son does not have life.”
So…question….how ‘lost’…is someone that does not have, or is not ‘in’ Jesus Christ? The biblical answer is ‘totally’. Not partially…but totally. We need to understand just how profoundly blind a person is to spiritual truth that does not ‘have’ or is not ‘in’ Christ. It is not that they are not ‘willing’ to see truth/Christ…it is that they are not ‘able’ to see truth/Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:4 says “the god (Satan) of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers ‘so that’ they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ.”
So…not only are people ‘blind’….but they/we live in a world that is fallen…a fallen system…and it is under the control of the dark side…of evil…1 John 5:19 says “we know that ‘we’ are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” Ephesians 2:1-2 says “And you were dead in trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following…the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience.”
So…basically…those who are not ‘in’ Christ…do not ‘know’ Christ…who are not ‘saved’…who have not placed their faith for their eternal salvation for Christ…those who have not been regenerated through the power of God’s Spirit and received life and light…. they are basically…mechanically….broken…they are ‘dead’…unable to see the truth of the light of Christ. So…basically…fundamentally….a dead man can’t save himself. He is stuck in deadness…He is blind. It is a mechanical inability.
Paul in 1 Corinthians 2:12-14 says “We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in the words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
Father…I thank you that ‘we’ do have light and life and understand through our Lord and Savior, Jesus. I thank you that you called us out of the darkness, blindness, and into the light ‘so that’ we can help others to hear your voice ‘so that’ You can call them into the light of the glorious person of Your Son Jesus. Help us this week to shine this light of truth to our friends, co workers, and family who do not have the Son..and who do not have light. Amen
