Your daily goal:
Philippians 3:14  “press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
(Monday-Friday, from my morning quiet time, I will write a short thought for that day which I pray God will use to motivate you to ‘GO’ for that day.  Your objective is simple…to GO…to GO OUT and share the love of Christ with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)

The Two Sons

Matthew 21:28-32 NIV    The chief priests and elders of the people in Jerusalem heard Jesus talking and they approached him and challenged him as to the authority by which he spoke:  Jesus said “But what do you think?  A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, “Son, go work today in the vineyard.”  And he answered, “I will not”; but afterward he changed his mind and went.  The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, “I will, sir”; but he did not go.  (Jesus then said)  Which of the two did what his father wanted?”  “The first,” they answered.  Jesus said to them, :I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.  For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and prostitutes did.  And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.

Obedience is the mark of true discipleship.  Obedient disciples are not those who give verbal assent only, but actually obey what the Father commands.  Ideally we want people who both ‘say’ yes and ‘do’ yes.  But bottom-line in growing the kingdom is the people who ‘do’ yes.

The ‘key’ to becoming obedient…what is essential in becoming obedient.. is to spend time with Jesus through the scriptures…His word… we read His word/commands…and then we seek to become obedient to what He says.  We then say ‘yes’ and we ‘do’.  Each incremental step of obedience leads us to further depths of obedience in ‘yes’ and ‘doing’.

Thank you Father for devising a perfect plan for us to experience true joy and peace in this life…and that ‘plan’ is to walk with You in obedience to your word ‘so that’ we can do our part in growing Your kingdom.  Amen
