(Monday-Friday, from my morning quiet time, I will write a short thought for that day which I pray God will use to motivate you to ‘GO’ for that day. Your objective is simple…to GO…to GO OUT and share the love of Christ with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)
Today’s Daily Light
The Reign of the King (con’t) The King says ‘GO’.
True disciples are followers of Jesus AND fishers of men.
Mark 1:17, NIV, Jesus said “Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Jesus seeks disciples who love God with all their being and others as much as themselves, passionately pursuing the great Commission.
Matthew 28:18 NIV, Jesus said to his disciples “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Let’s paraphrase Matthew 28:18… here we have the only God who is Lord and Creator of the universe…who holds the power over death…who freely gives eternal life to all who believe in His name…who has just been raised from the dead…..and HE says…”here is what I want you to do… GO…GO…GO…go out into your work place, your neighborhood, your family circle, your social group, and sow seeds..tell people about ME…and then..when some of that seed falls onto good soil…and it germinates….help cultivate that little plant so that it will learn how to reproduce…so that it will learn how to sow seeds and make disciples….so that it will become a fisher of men….and I give you my word that I will be with you and in you every step of the way while you are living-out your life being an ambassador of MY kingdom. “
I encourage you to read Matthew chapter 10 to capture the ‘essence’ of the heart of a disciple maker.
Our job as fisher’s of men and disciple makers is to develop people who are not just ‘hearers’…but ‘doers’…they become fishers of men and learn how to encourage new converts to become fishermen and disciple makers. This is the ‘how-to’ of kingdom growth.
So ‘today’…start fishing…Go!
Father I pray for all of us that we will see that our life is not about our comfort…our goals…our plans…but about the reality that we belong to you….and that all of our plans…all of where we live and what we do…belongs to you… SO THAT…we see that where we are planted is our mission field…we begin to see that all around us in our life is our stage…our fish pond…our fields to plant….’so that’ we will live our lives to please you in your great plan to grow you kingdom. Amen.
