Your daily goal:
Philippians 3:14 “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
(Monday-Friday, from my morning quiet time, I will write a short thought for that day which I pray God will use to motivate you to ‘GO’ for that day. Your objective is simple…to GO…to GO OUT and share the love of Christ with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)
Today’s Daily Light
(Con’t) The Reign of the King
Jesus knew that if we could ‘see’ and ‘understand’ the nature of His Kingdom…if we could see that His coming was foremost about is eternal ‘reign’ as King….if we could see that He alone is to have our highest value…that He is to be exalted….that ‘He’.. ‘the person of Jesus’….Jesus the King…and his reign are what we are to seek and what we are to value above all things….then we would not become just a ‘hearer’…and not a ‘doer’. We would not just become a go-to-church-on-Sunday pew sitter…no. We would see that we are brought into the kingdom to do kingdom work and to grow the reign of the King. And ‘that’ is our life’s mission.
The King’s ways are not naturally intuitive to us. (Merriam Webster = directly apprehended; knowable by intuition). Our ‘natural’ way of reasoning and thinking with our human level is our natural / intuitive way of reasoning and thinking. And…our ‘old sinful nature’…that has its own mind…has its own way of thinking and reasoning…is constantly at work inside us as its present its default programming…to keep us from moving into the ‘spiritual’ realm of reasoning and thinking. The Holy Spirit speaks to us through the word/scriptures and through direct communication into our hearts and minds in opposition…or in contrast…to our natural intuitive way of thinking and reasoning. The ‘way’ of the Kingdom…the work of the King…the work of the Holy Spirit is thus ‘counter intuitive’. The ways of the Spirit are not naturally or intuitively understood by us because they are ‘spiritual’ principles and not ‘natural’ ones.
It is the plan, intention, and work of the King to grow His Kingdom. It is the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit to prepare the ‘soil’ for the seed to germinate and grow. It is our work to learn to ‘look for’..to cooperate with…the work of the Holy Spirit in what ‘HE’ is already doing ‘so that’ we can maximize our work of sowing the word (evangelize) and nurturing the word (discipleship/training).
Jesus told his disciples ‘that’ ‘when’ He (Jesus) returned to heaven…He (Jesus) would send the Spirit of God (the Holy Spirit – God, the Holy Spirit) to us and into the world to ‘perform’ particular ‘works’ / activities. One of those ‘works’ is ‘that’ He (the Holy Spirit) is constantly ‘out-there’, in the world, among people, preparing their hearts and minds to be receptive to hearing and receiving the ‘good news’ that Jesus is the Savior and King.
John 16:8, Jesus said “When I go..I will send him (the Holy Spirit) to you. When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin…because men do not believe in me.”
Matthew 13:11, 16, Jesus said “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted….But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.”
(We will look at the parables of the Kingdom that Jesus taught us about in the next DL’s.)
