Daily Light – May 28, 2018

Your daily goal:
Philippians 3:14  press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
(Monday-Friday, from my morning time of study and reflection, I will share with you what God is teaching me.  I ask you then to join me in each day and pray that God will use our time to draw us to a deeper understanding of His will and His ways.  Our objective is simple…to ‘see’ and ‘know’ the light and love of Christ Jesus..‘so that’ we will GO OUT and share the love of Christ Jesus with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)

The Balance that Must Be…’if’ we truly want to live life to the ‘full’…  taking a break this morning from the final pieces of TSFS.

Okay..I am just in a thought pattern on this Memorial Day…the 69th of my life 😊.  It is that time of the year here in So. Indiana where we who love the yard and landscape should be close to realizing that annual satisfaction that comes for just a brief period of time….the shrub/flower beds are weeded and trimmed…the flowers are planted…the blooms are beautiful…the sights and smells are many….the finished product is ‘good’…wonderful…very pleasing to the hands, the heart’s content, and the eye.  And the strain in the muscles in the shoulders and the aging back seems to me a good thing…a pain that strangely relates to the job well done.  😊

Let me say it again… I love my yard..and that is good.    And such is normal.   God created all these blooming and budding things…and He created the sense of ‘order’….He created that need I have to find and realize that job well done that pleases my body, mind, and senses.   And as He said when he was busy creating the earth… “it is good”.

The balance is to always stay in touch with the difference in temporary good as compared to the larger ‘eternal’ good.   The temporary good should never consume more of my focus…command more of my senses…than does the eternal good.

God created us to experience both realities…the temporary good and the eternal good.   The eternal good is the seeds we plant and the light we shine into the darkness of this temporary thing we love so much…that we call life.  The difference we make in the lives of others that we have contact with and relationship with over the course of our temporary life.

Yes..God created this temporary life to bring us sooo much pleasure…all of the things that are good are there for us to have to the ‘full’.

But God also connects us through His Word..through His Spirit that lives inside us to the eternal good…the things that don’t fade or spoil or lose their bloom…where the seasonal insects, and mold and things that cause decay have their annual effect…and where things don’t rust for die.   The eternal good is those things that last for eternity…the love and kindness and sacrifice we provide/give to others…the prayers that we pray for our needs and the needs of others…the light and love that we must bring daily to the world around us.

Thus I thank God for the reality of this balance….that He gives us the temporary good and the eternal good to experience and enjoy…and thus we know that distinct difference in the quality of both experiences….we know that one, although sweet and beautiful, will fade…and at the same time we have that rock solid assurance through the spirit faith that works in our spirit mind that tells us that the eternal good that we render is the higher and better good because it has that eternal and forever value that causes our ‘full’ meter to realize something of eternal joy …a lasting peace…and that deep sense that we are pleasing the Father.
