Your daily goal:
Philippians 3:14 “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
(Monday-Friday, from my morning time of study and reflection, I will share with you what God is teaching me. I ask you then to join me in each day and pray that God will use our time to draw us to a deeper understanding of His will and His ways. Our objective is simple…to ‘see’ and ‘know’ the light and love of Christ Jesus..‘so that’ we will GO OUT and share the love of Christ Jesus with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)

Final Few Days of… The Search For Significance, by R. McGee
The Trip ‘In’…. ‘more on Exposing Ungodly Thoughts’.
Our thoughts are seldom neutral. They reflect either beliefs based on the Word of God or beliefs based on the world’s values. The Lord can give us the perception we need to identify the source of our thoughts and determine if they are of Him or not. The more our thoughts are in line with God’s Word, the more our actions will be honoring to Him. In fact, the purity of our thoughts ultimately determines how much of our lives will honor Christ. Paul told Titus that Christ “gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds” (Titus 2:14).
Identifying False Beliefs
This is a pivotal point in the process of understanding and applying all that has come before! So take your time. Be honest about your emotions. Reflect on the principles brought out here and apply them to specific instances in your life. As you do, you will probably realize that Satan’s lies have controlled your life far more than you previously realized. You will probably also realize that God’s love and power can progressively free you from introspection, anger, and fear and give you a heart of thankfulness and a greater desire to live for Him.
First, you need to realize where your emotions and actions come from. Jesus said, “For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34). In other words, our communication (which reveals our thoughts, emotions, and the intent of our actions) comes from our hearts (our belief system). Because every situation in our lives is interpreted by what we believe, our belief system – not the situation – is the key to our response! The following diagram illustrates this process:
Situations > Beliefs >Thoughts > Emotions > Actions (con’t tomorrow)
Friends…being on vacation last week and ‘out’ and around the reality of ‘street life’…yikes…I found myself behaving poorly related to the principles McGee speaks of above in the words I placed in bold in the first paragraph above. I have always had an overly strong natural protective instinct. When I see ‘behavior’ that can hurt someone else…my natural instinct is to ‘protect’. What I realized, at age 69, finally, 😊…is that this strong natural instinct to protect is a wonderful gift…and I need to choose to simply avoid and walk away from ‘some’ situations in lieu of trying to install my since of protective justice into the situation. And for an old ‘sheep dog’…I find such a very difficult thing to do. But…I realize that in order to better communicate the love of Jesus to those around me…in those ‘situations’ I need to stop and breathe and allow the love of Jesus that lives inside me guide me and not let the strong sheep dog heart guide me. Tuff for an old dog to learn new tricks 😊…but I know that such is possible 😊 through the power and love of our Lord Jesus who lives inside us…we can ‘reflect the heart of God’s word instead of the old beliefs based on the natural instincts of a sheep dog.
Thank you Lord Jesus that you never quit working inside us to change us ‘so that’ we can choose to listen to your voice that convicts us of areas where we fall short and need to change ‘so that’ we can show light and love and not bite and bark. Amen
