The Saving Solution Versus Satan’s Snare 

Satan, the father of lies, twists and distorts the truth ‘so that’ his deceptions appear to be more reasonable and attractive than the truth.

When Eve was deceived…and Adam followed her in his own act of rebellion against God…they both traded God’s truthfulness…and fell for Santa’s lie, which was “you can have greater significance apart from God.”

In one form or another, Satan’s lies still thrives today.  He is a liar.  That is what he does…he deceives.  For example, humanism, the central philosophy of our schools and society, teaches that man is above all else, that he alone is the center of meaning.  Teaching that man has meaning totally apart from God, humanism leaves morality, justice, and behavior to the discretion of ‘enlightened’ man and encourages people to worship man and nature rather than God.  Living without God’s divine truth, humanity sinks lower and lower in depravity, blindly following a philosophy that intends to heighten the dignity of man but instead lowers him to the level of animals.  Rather than a spiritual and emotional being, man has been classified as merely a natural phenomenon of time plus chance, no greater than rocks, animals, or clouds.  The apostle Paul described this foolish and demeaning perspective of man:

Romans 1:20-25:     For since the creation of the world His (God’s) invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they (mankind) are without excuse.  For even though they knew God, they did not know Him as God, or give thanks;  but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.  Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

Therefore, God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, that their bodies might be dishonored among them.  for they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever.

In Rom 1 quote above….Paul says that people may know ‘about’ or know ‘of’ God (says although they knew God).   And Paul goes on to say that such external level of knowledge is not truly ‘knowing’….it is not ‘knowing’ at the ‘divine’ level.  Divine knowing is ‘knowing’ at the deepest internal spiritual level…it goes beyond ‘knowing about’…and creates knowing through an experienced personal relationship…thus divinely we know that He is our God…and we are His people….

Father… I pray that all of us can see the ‘truth’ in what McGee opens to us in his words above.  I pray that we will more clearly ‘see’ the ‘lie’ and not trade your glory… your way…your will….for the lie.   Help us to see that our full significance can only be realized by walking with you and living for you.   Amen
