Your daily goal:
Philippians 3:14  “press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
(Monday-Friday, from my daily study time, I will write a short thought for that day which I pray God will use to motivate you to ‘GO’ for that day.  Your objective is simple…to GO…to GO OUT and share the love of Christ with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)

Continuing with …..Justification is God’s solution to the false idea of “I must meet certain standards to feel good about myself and find significance.”
Reasons For Obedience  (Six Reasons To Obey…today, reason #6)
The love of God and His acceptance of us are based on grace, His unmerited favor.  They are not based on our ability to impress God through our good deeds.  But if we are accepted on the basis of His grace and not our deeds, why should we obey God?  Here are six compelling reasons:

Reason # 6:   Christ Is Worthy

Our noblest motivation for serving Christ is simply that He is worthy of our love and obedience.  The apostle John recorded his vision of the Lord and his response to His glory:

Revelation 4:1-4, 9-11… John wrote…  After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things.”  Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One sitting on the throne.  And He who was sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius in appearance; and three was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald in appearance.  And around the throne were twenty-four thrones; and upon the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white garments, and golden crowns on their heads. . . . And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, to Him, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, “Worthy are Thou, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for Thou didst create all things, and because of Thy will they existed, and were created.”

Christ is worthy of our affection and obedience.  There is no other person, no goal, no fame or status, and no material possession that can compare with Him.  The more we understand His love and majesty, the more we will praise Him and desire that He be honored at the expense of everything else.  Our hearts will reflect the psalmist’s perspective:  “Whom have I in heaven but Thee?  And besides Thee, I desire nothing on earth. . . . But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all Thy works” (Psalm 73:25, 28).

Obeying Christ for the six reasons we studied this week ‘is not’ a self-improvement program.  The Holy Spirit gives us encouragement, wisdom, and strength as we grown in our desire to honor the Lord.

Dear Father…I pray that You will increase our desire to honor You.   I pray that we will make honoring You our #1 life goal.   Help us to realize that in order to honor You, we MUST spend time with You in prayer and in Your Word.   Amen
