The Gory of God – Some can see…Some cannot see (con’t) 

Romans 1-19-21  19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.\

The passage above says ‘even though people can know of God’s divine attributes, power, and qualities through what He has made…such general revelation of Him does not, or is not, ‘enough’ or cause for them to glorify Him as God or to give Him thanks. 

The passage says that God’s divine glory…His power…His divine nature…the awe, majesty, and mind-blowing beauty of what He has made is clear and ‘plain’ to see…and IF we do not come to a revelation of His glory through the revelation of what has been made, we are still responsible to see itand to honor and declare His glory and to give Him thanks.  And if we don’t…Paul says “we are without excuse.”   

It is ‘not’ that people simply choose to NOT see the divine glory of God as Creator in what has been made.   It is not a matter of simple un-willingness…it is that the people do not see because they ‘cannot’ see.  Seeing the ‘things’ of God can only be seen through the eyes of our spirit as illuminated inside our being by God’s spirit.  Seeing is thus a supernatural experience created by God and given by God.

Paul explains this in 1 Corinthians 2:10-16        10 these are the things God has revealed to us (believers) by his Spirit.  11The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.[c] 14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for,“Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?”[d]        But we have the mind of Christ.

Paul teaches us that people do not, cannot, see the glory of God by themselves.  They need help.  People MUST have the help of God’s Spirit.   It is Godwho calls us to the cross.. and we see Jesus..and we believe that Jesus is God-the-Son, the Savior of the world.  And we repent and put our faith ‘in Jesus’.  In our ‘believing’…God reconciles us to Himself and He gives us new birth ‘in’ Christ.   In 2 Corinthians 5:17, Paul explains …  17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, [h]he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.  

To ‘see’ God’s glory and thus to glorify and be thankful to God, we must belong to God through Jesus Christ and be indwelled by God’s Spirit.  It is the ‘mind of Christ’ inside us that reveals God’s glory to us…that HE IS.  New birth creates the supernatural realm of ‘personal’ relationship with the divine nature.  

Father…I know that if any of us can see you today…can glorify you…it is because you have given us new life in Your Son…and through YOUR SON we have the ability to see YOU..to glorify YOU and give YOU thanks…help us today to become extra motivated to go-out and rescue the perishing….those that cannot see…help us to take the ‘good news’ of the gospel of Christ so that they can receive light to see…eternal light.   Amen
