Your daily goal:
Philippians 3:14 “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
(Monday-Friday, from my morning quiet time, I will write a short thought for that day which I pray God will use to motivate you to ‘GO’ for that day. Your objective is simple…to GO…to GO OUT and share the love of Christ with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)
Today’s Daily Light
(Continuing to ‘graze’ in 1 Peter 😊)
1 Peter 2 (NIV)
2 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
Living Godly Lives in a Pagan Society
11 Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. 12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
13 Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, 14 or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. 15 For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. 16 Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves. 17 Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor.
18 Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. 19 For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. 20 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 25 For “you were like sheep going astray,”[f] but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. (end)
Soooo….why do we ‘need’ to regularly read the holy scriptures? And the answer is because the truth of God…the reality of God…the objective ‘knowing’ that God IS…comes to us through the supernatural work of the Spirit. God’s word works in us through 2 realms or levels…there is the natural level…and the supernatural level. We ‘will’ our minds to read the supernatural, God inspired word of God. And as we, by faith, exercise our will at the natural realm…God then, through the work of the Spirit inside us and who also (the Spirit) lives and breathes in and through the supernatural word……so as we come to God…..through the word and through prayer….or even in reflection and mediation on Him or His ways…..our natural mind becomes illuminated through the work of the Spirit and through this work of God’s Spirit…we are made to have absolute assurance…we come to know at a ‘divine’ level that HE is true and HE is real and HE is ours. It is the work of the God-the-Holy Spirit that moves us from the natural realm of understanding into the realm of supernatural faith infused knowing. When God’s Spirit merges and shines light into our human spirit…divine knowing takes place…. and ‘that’ is why we spend time with God through prayer and in the word..so that we can know HIM and know His truth..so that we can live for HIM as we ought. The Spirit translates us out of the limited and subjective realm of the natural and through the supernatural work of God’s Spirit…we have solid, objective, knowing.
Father…as we spend time in the few verses of scripture today, we say to you through the work of faith…to please come to us through the power of the Holy Spirit and empower us to know your presence…that You ‘ARE’…empower us to live the life that you desire us to live ‘so that’ we will glorify you and produce eternal fruit. Give us the will and strength to ‘make’ ourselves, in the natural realm where we live and breathe, to come to you by faith through your word and through prayer ‘so that’ you can build us up so that our ‘knowing’ of YOU…knowing of eternal truth…continues to grow and increase ‘so that’ we will live a life of righteousness that glorifies you. Amen
