(Monday-Friday, from my morning quiet time, I will write a short thought for that day which I pray God will use to motivate you to ‘GO’ for that day. Your objective is simple…to GO…to GO OUT and share the love of Christ with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)
Today’s Daily Light
Jesus: The Servant King…now fully glorified…is now and always was…God the Son, God the Deity.
Matthew 17:1-3 Jesus took with him Peter and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfiguredbefore them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.
The Gospel of Mark 9:3 adds “His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.”
Luke 9:29 adds “the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.
Philippians 2:6-7 Paul wrote “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing,taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and becameobedient to death – even death on a cross?”
Christ was revealed in His glory, and He was joined by Moses and Elijah to indicate that He was about to fulfill the Law and the Prophets, and that death cannot destroy the glory that will follow. Moses and Elijah were and are alive, and are glorified. Jesus may face death in the days to come, but death, for those who are ‘in’ Christ, only leads us home to ‘glory’.
Friends…we just have such limited understanding and perspective while we live in this body. Only through the spirit inside us…through the eyes of faith…can we faintly understand what God has in store for us on the ‘other side’. The Matthew/Mark/Luke account of this ‘event’ in the life of Jesus…we refer to it as the ‘mount of transfiguration’….was given to us ‘so that’ we could get a glimpse of His glory…get a taste of ‘what the glory…the light that surrounds His deity…what that must be like….and yet here he was…dressed in human clothes wearing human skin…headed to a brutal death in Jerusalem…
Here it is in a nutshell…The God..of GLORY…came down to planet earth…put on human skin and became a servant to you/me and died the most humiliating death ‘so that’ you/I could receive forgiveness and eternal life. So that we some day could put on a glorious new body and join him ‘forever’ in heaven. That is just ‘awesome’.
Go out this week and tell people how thankful you are for Jesus and that they too can have eternal life ‘in’ Him. Amen
