Christmas is ‘Reconciliation’

Isaiah 53:6, and 10 NIV   The Old Testament prophet under the inspiration of God’s Spirit wrote “We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him (Jesus) the iniquity of us all….(and jump down to verse 10) “Yet it was the Lord’s will, to crush him (Jesus) and cause him to suffer..’ 

2 Corinthians 5:17-21 NIV, Paul wrote to us “If anyone is ‘in’ Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come!  All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:  that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them.  And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.  We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.  We implore you on Christ’s behalf:  be reconciled to God.  God made him who had no sin to become sin for us ‘so that’ in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 

Dear friends… do you see this?   It was God, our Father who chose to put His pure and perfect son on the Cross…for you and me.  God’s choice…God’s will.   ‘So that’ we could be reconciled (brought back into a relationship with) to God.  ‘So that’ we could become God’s ambassadors and go out into the world and share the good news of reconciliation with others.   And ‘that’..is the message of Christmas…we were lost…we needed to be found…brought back into the light…God ‘gave’ Jesus as our Savior…to shine the light of God’s love on us and lead us back to God…and ‘now’..we are given the ministry to go out and shine the love of Jesus on those who are lost in darkness so that they can come home to the Father.

Lord…thank you that you shined your light of love on me/us ‘so that’ we could be reconciled to you.  Help us, today, to shine that light on others.  Amen
