Daily Light – Apr 3, 2018

Your daily goal:
Philippians 3:14  “press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
(Monday-Friday, from my daily study time, I will write a short thought for that day which I pray God will use to motivate you to ‘GO’ for that day.  Your objective is simple…to GO…to GO OUT and share the love of Christ with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)

The Importance of Healthy Relationships

Our relationships with one another are very important to God, so much so that He has placed unity among the brethren as a priority in our relationship with Him (Matthew 5:23-24).   This is because God has reconciled us to Himself as a body in Christ (Ephesians 2:16) and therefore intends for us to interact as members of one another (Ephesians 4:25).  Pray that God will guide you to relationships that will encourage you to be honest, practice the truth of His Word, affirm you, and thereby help you develop an appropriate love for yourself and compel you to focus on Him as the gracious provider of your needs.  Eventually, your gratitude will motivate you to practice pleasing Him rather than other people.

How do we learn to reject Satan’s lie I must be approved by certain others to feel good about myself?  How can we begin to practically apply the great truth of our reconciliation to almighty God?  The following exercise will help you begin to experience the freedom and joy of reconciliation.

1 John 4:8, 16…John wrote that ‘God is Love’.   First Corinthians 13 describes God’s unconditional love and acceptance of us.  To personalize this passage, replace the word love with my Father.   Then memorize the following, and when fear comes to you, recall the love and kindness of God:

My Father is very patient and kind
My Father is not envious, never boastful
My Father is not arrogant
My Father is never rude, nor is He self-seeking
My Father is not quick to take offense
My Father keeps no score of wrongs
My Father does not gloat over my sins but is always glad when truth prevails
My Father knows no limit to His endurance, no end to His trust
My Father is always hopeful and patient

As you memorize this passage, ask God to show you if your perception of Him is in error in any way.  This will enable you to have a more accurate perception of God and will help you to experience more of His unconditional love and acceptance.  (con’t tomorrow 😊)

Father…I thank you that you have always provided Godly men and women around me to serve as voices of encouragement, to mentor, to accept, to shine the light of your truth in areas of my journey when I need pushing and prying and redirection…to be reminded of Your truth.   And I thank you that You have been such a wonderful Father to me/us.  You are so loving and kind and patient.   And I thank you that in the times where/when I need conviction and discipline, that you provide that as well.  Your love is steadfast and faithful.   Thank you.
