Philippians 3:14  “press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
(Monday-Friday, from my daily study time, I will write a short thought for that day which I pray God will use to motivate you to ‘GO’ for that day.  Your objective is simple…to GO…to GO OUT and share the love of Christ with someone in that day….to GO and bear fruit …to be light to the world.)

Continuing in …God’s Answer to The Fear of Punishment:  Propitiation

Propitiation, then means that Christ has satisfied the holy wrath of God through His payment for sin. There was only one reason for Him to do this:  He loves us.  Infinitely, eternally, unconditionally, irrevocably, He loves us.  God the Father loves us with the love of a father, reaching to snatch us from harm.  God the Son loves us with the love of a brother, laying down His life for us.  He alone has turned away God’s wrath from us.  There is nothing we can do, no amount of good deeds we can accomplish, and no religious ceremonies we can perform that can pay for our sins.  Instead, Christ has conclusively paid for them so that we can escape eternal condemnation and experience His love and purposes both now and forever.

Christ not only paid for our sins at one point in time but also continues to love us and teach us day after day.  We have a weapon to use against Satan as he attacks us with doubts about God’s love for us.  Our weapon is the fact that Christ took our punishment upon Himself at Calvary.  We no longer have to fear punishment for our sins because Christ paid for them all – past, present, and future.   This tremendous truth of propitiation clearly demonstrates that we are truly and deeply loved by God.  His perfect love casts out all fear as we allow it to flood our hearts (1 John 4:18).

(Con’t tomorrow)

I have spent most of my Christian life not fully understanding this truth at the level that ‘appropriates…grabs onto  …not grasping at a deep ‘spirit’ level…what Jesus did for me/us on the cross.  Even for the years that I may have understood these facts theologically/intellectually….I just now…just now am really, really comprehending it at the ‘internal spirit’ level….where such understanding becomes transformational.   For ‘truth’ at the ‘spirit’ level to transform our minds…it takes a work of God’s Spirit.   Spirit level work is different from ‘natural’ level…natural mind work.   Transformation at the spirit level is where we gain a fulcrum to hold-onto and such ‘grasp’ produces change.

So…I pray….Glorious Father… Oh my.  Help me/us to fully grasp, through the work of Your Spirit inside us… what we have ‘in’ Christ Jesus…what You provided for us ‘because’ You love us.  If we can get this…truly and fully grasp it….it is sooo freeing and can heal our hurts and doubts and mend the weak areas of our walk and faith.  Help us Father to fully see what we have and who we are ‘in’ Christ.   Amen

Romans 12:2    Paul, through inspiration from the Holy Spirit, really lays it out for us….    “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you (‘so that’) will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.”    Wow.
