Today’s Daily Light:

In Philippians, 3:17-21, Paul writes:  “…take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you.  For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.  Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame.  Their mind is on earthly things.  But our citizenship is in heaven.  And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Last week I spent a lot of time sitting on the beach of the Atlantic Ocean.  I observed sun rise and sun set.  I walked the beach at high tide and low tide.  I observed the stars at night as the hang in perfect balance over the ocean.  In that vast, colorful, powerful, loud, display of God’s amazing creative power, just trying to slightly comprehend ‘who’…what kind of power.. what level of genus…would be required to even come-up the design concept for the ‘all’ of the natural world of planet earth and the solar system…the heavens and the earth.   You can’t look at a blade of sea oat grass or look out into the heavens and to the start…or watch the ocean tides/waves as they work in their mystical relationship with gravity and wind….you can’t look at all that and not realize that the God who created and sustains ‘all’ of THAT… “who by the power that enables Him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly bodies ‘so that’ they will be like His glorious body.”  Wow.   Double Wow.

Father…I am so comforted and strengthened in my faith because I know that YOU are in control of everything.   Even as I see the deterioration in the world system…even as I see the increase of evil on our planet and how it wreaks havoc, chaos, and pain…I am not afraid because I have YOU…and more importantly…YOU have me.   Thank You that You included me in your great plan of salvation and that you are in control of my total future.   And thank you that even after this old body of mine wears out…that you promise to give me a new, eternal, glorious body ‘so that’ I can enjoy and live with you forever.   Help all of us to be strengthened today as we meditate on your power and your glory.   And help us to study your word ‘so that’ we know how to be obedient so that we can demonstrate our love for You.
