Today’s Daily Light:

John 16:27, Jesus said “The Father himself loves you because you have loved me, and have believed that I came from God.”

John 17:25-26, Jesus prays “Righteous Father…though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me.  I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

John 17:1-3, Jesus prays “Father, the time has come.  Glorify you Son, that your Son may glorify you.  For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him.  Now this is eternal life:  that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”

I am asking you a favor this week…please devote time and read the what Jesus said and what Jesus prayed as recorded by the Apostle John in the Gospel of John…chapters 14-17.   It is such wonderful spiritual food and by reading and meditating on the truth contained therein… we can learn sooo much about how the relationship between the Father, Jesus, and us is designed as to purpose and intention.

In the verses in today’s daily light… Jesus reiterates the theme of his life which is to be the theme of our life.  That theme is:   The Father loved him…he loved the Father and was obedient to all the Father asked him to do.  The Father loves us because we love Jesus.  God gave us Jesus to reconcile us and bring us into a relationship with God because God loved us.   It begins and ends with love..a divine level of love given to us by God so that we and know him.   Eternal life is not foremost about being forgiven and thus being able to go to heaven when we die.   Jesus says that Eternal Life is knowing the only true God and His son Jesus Christ…KNOWING…knowing and loving the Creator of the universe and His son.  And once we come to know them…through the work of reconciliation that Jesus provided for us on the Cross…the eternal-ness begins.   Jesus comes to live inside us and we come to love Him…and because we love Him…the Father loves us…and we come to know the Father…’so that’ the love that the Father has for Jesus…will be in us…and we will love Jesus just like the Father loves Him… and the more we love Jesus…the more of His light we will release into this dark world.   Go and be light…
