The Man ‘with’….. The Man ‘without’…. God’s Secret Wisdom
1 Corinthians 2:6-16 NIV: The Apostle Paul says “We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written: ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him’ but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man’s judgment: ‘For who knows the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?’ But we (with the Spirit) have the mind of Christ.
Colossians 1:25-27 NIV: The Apostle Paul says “I have become its servant (saying he is the servant of the body of Christ..the ‘church’) by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness – the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of Glory.”
There are divine ‘secrets’ that originated in the mind and plan of God ‘before’ the world was created. God kept these secrets and mystery ‘hidden’ from everyone until the appointed time for them to be revealed. The ‘secrets’ are the ‘mystery’. The time for the secret and mystery to be revealed was perfectly timed by God to the event of the coming of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, to the earth, to do/complete what is referred to as the ‘work of the Cross’. Not even the Old Testament saints who prophesied about the coming of a Messiah knew of the secret of the mystery that Paul says was only revealed to the New Testament saints (believers). The mystery is thus the New Testament revelation of ‘Christ incarnate’. The story of God becoming man, of God in human skin, of Christ ‘in’ us – that is the mystery and secret. With the coming of God’s Son in the flesh…all who would believe in Jesus as the Christ would ‘inherit’ riches and glory. The riches and glory are not just that believers will gain eternal life. No. The riches and glory is that Christ himself, God, comes to live inside, takes residence inside the body/spirit of His people. The riches and glory is Christ living inside us. Paul states it as ‘Christ in you.’
Ephesians 1:18 NIV: The Apostle Paul says “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints (with)…”
Ephesians 3:16,17,19 NIV: The Apostle Paul says “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power thorough his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith…that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God…”
Romans 9:23 NIV: The Apostle Paul says “God makes the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy..”
John 14:17,23 NIV: Jesus said “I will give you another counselor (the Spirit of truth)…the world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him (without). But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you (with)….if anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”
Romans 8:9 NIV: The Apostle Paul says “You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you (with). And if anyone does not have (without) the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
Such is the main message of the New Testament… “Christ in you’!!!!!!! It’s the biggest boo-yah of all time :). God..Creator of the universe..coming to live ‘inside’ us to give us the ‘all’ of what he is ‘so that’ we may live life to the full within HIS purpose and plan for each of our lives.
What Jesus accomplished ‘on the cross’…did something ‘for us’ and ‘to us’. You have to understand God’s concept of ‘Atonement’…the principle of…the reason of…in order to come to fully understand what we have ‘in’ Christ and what it means to have Christ ‘in’ us.
Through the work that Jesus accomplished on the cross…we not only get forgiveness and eternal life…we get ‘light’. We get Christ coming to live inside our spirit…His Spirit living in our spirit and we then have the power to break out of the grip, the illusion, the lies, the influence of the default program and we can become ‘transformed’ into all that God intended for us to be and do.
You must understand ‘atonement’ and what it did ‘for’ us and ‘to’ us. In order to receive the riches and glory of what He did for us and to us…we must become the ‘man WITH the Spirit’. We must put our ‘faith’ in Christ ‘so that’ we can become the man ‘with’ the Spirit. God’s design for us divinely knowing Him at the deepest level and being able to live life to the full within His perfect plan for our life begins and ends with ‘Christ in you’.
The Apostle Paul (as quoted in Colossians, above) says that his main message, his commission, is to present the mystery of ‘Christ in you’.
The Apostle John, in his letter, 1st John, Chapter 5 (below) says that God himself has given testimony about his Son:
1 John 5:11-12 NIV John wrote “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son (with) has life; he who does not have (without) the son of God does not have life.
